About

Who I Am

  • I live in Michigan and work in tech. I probably won't be answering questions about my job.
  • I'm demisexual/biromantic and polyamorous. I'm not especially looking for new partners at this time but I'm open to the possibility of meeting someone especially awesome.
    • I have one partner; that partner has two cats. I sometimes post pictures of the cats. The fluffy one is Steel and the shorthair is Paw Revere.
  • I'm AuDHD.
  • I have multiple chronic illnesses.
    • Looping animations can trigger migraines for me, so I have animation/GIF/video autoplay turned off on both Bluesky and Discord.
      • If you ever see me posting about "fucking GIFs" it probably means my settings are being disrespected again. Probably by Discord.
    • I had cancer but it hasn't been long enough yet for me to technically be called a survivor. (Check back in late summer 2029! It'll be 5 years since finishing treatment.) I'm going to be okay and the odds of recurrence are low.
    • However, my body is a temple of doom and keeps proving it...thus why I've started an effort to document everything unique about my spiritual practice before a boulder rolls over me.
  • I identified as nonbinary but then detransitioned for safety reasons. My gender has been boiled for safety.
    • That said, I don't react well to being called sir, ma'am, or comrade, but that's because I don't like formality. (In English, directed toward me. In Spanish I would probably be that person usted-ing everybody, but I'm not conversationally fluent yet.)
  • I was raised Roman Catholic; now I'm primarily Universalist Heathen but also doing some other stuff under the Pagan umbrella.
    • You don't need to educate me about the Roman Catholic Church being awful on trans rights; I already frickin' know.
      • It sucked just to be a bi person in a Catholic school in the 90s.
      • I don't know everything about Evangelicalism but I know it's also generally against trans people.
    • I'm also a baby Kemetic and an art witch.
  • If you're curious about my Bluesky/Pillowfort handle, yes, I'm familiar with the Alleyman and Publishing Goblin. I'm not affiliated. I see the side of me that engages in divination as somewhere between the Alleyman and the Cornerwitch from a short comic that got passed around Facebook at one point - sort of a suburban cryptid who offers you insight and possibly change if you're in the right place at the right time and open to the possibility. I figured I might as well own that.

What I Do

  • Obviously, I'm here sharing about art and spirituality!
  • I practice multiple forms of divination and my side business is devoted to that.
  • I paint (acrylic and watercolor), do mixed media and collage, draw sigils and knotwork designs, design casting maps for charm casting and other divination tools, and knit.
  • I mostly listen to metal, but like at least a little bit of all genres. Metal is just what makes me most happy, most of the time. I don't have one favorite band at the moment; there are too many good ones.
  • I mostly watch and read speculative fiction; my favorite shows are Babylon 5 and (the rare case where I enjoy a relatively realistic setting) Community.
  • I play Final Fantasy XIV (Zalera) and City of Heroes: Homecoming (Everlasting/Excelsior).
  • On Bluesky, I'm trying to make at least one original post a day, and to avoid posting about politics unless it's positive or something specific that people can do to help.
    • I mostly post about the interests I mentioned in this section, disability stuff, neurodiversity stuff, and of course Partner's cats.

Getting My Attention on Socials

I don't always go through all of my followers looking for people to follow. I follow people who post interesting original content, have a filled-out profile, don't post a ton of politics, and don't engage in follow farming - if we end up interacting. So please comment substantively on one or more of my posts if you want to get my attention, especially if you know me from elsewhere.

I probably won't follow back if you mostly repost others (unless you're an art/photo account), if you post AI generated content, if you post a lot of politics, or if you mostly post memes. I'm not interested in that. It's still ok to interact if you want to.

I block if I get a bad feeling from someone or notice they're follow farming, I subscribe to a few blocklists, and I'm open to re-evaluating if you think you got caught up in a blocklist indiscriminately. But follow farming means that bad actors can slip disinformation onto your timeline and you may repost it without realizing; someone I trust on this subject has seen it happening on Bluesky. I'm not going to change my stance on follow farming.

I won't disclose other handles I've used in public but you can reach me at alleywitch17@gmail.com to ping me about whether we know/knew each other through some other community. I'm reluctant to put personal information in DMs if I don't have to.

I'm on Bluesky because it's fun and if that stops being the case, I'm out.

I just decided to give Pillowfort a try and I'm not sure how active I'll be.

Around the Tubes

The only social media venues I currently use are Ghost, Bluesky, Pillowfort, Discord, and DreamWidth. I'm happy to have new friends on Discord if I know the friend request is coming and who it is. I only add people from a particular community on DreamWidth and that's a part of my life I share only after I really trust someone.

As I mentioned already, I play City of Heroes: Homecoming and Final Fantasy XIV. I would have to get to know you to friend you in either game, but I'm open to the possibility.

Politics

I may not post much about politics, here or on Bluesky, but I'm far enough left that I approve of ideas like UBI and universal healthcare. I think the purpose of government should be to help as many people as possible. I also believe in protecting every non-fascist demographic in my political coalition; if you're in favor of throwing trans people under the bus, I don't want to be friends.
